Screen recording and video editing software solution Camtasia (from Techsmith) for example just released version 2.2 for the Mac and it comes with quite a few new and interesting features to dig into. Let’s take a look!

Camtasia for Mac 2.2 now includes the ability to create clickable objects (aka hotspots) so video marketers can embed hyperlinks within their creation, sending them to online content and one step closer to the end of a conversion funnel. This release is also focused on optimizing the cross platform experience but providing one output that will work on any device, be it iOS or Android, smartphone or desktop. The entire list of featuers is available here.

“This edition of Camtasia for Mac brings completely new marketing, sales and teaching capabilities for business professionals and educators. It’s important because video is quickly becoming the fastest growing, most popular content on the web,” said Shane Lovellette, Camtasia for Mac Product Manager at TechSmith. “Interactivity, and hotspot linking, along with a lot of interactive and ease-of-use features such as smart sharing, table of contents, closed captioning and search put video-creation in the hands of novices and intermediate users. We can’t wait to see what kind of creative things people will do with interactive video.”

A free, 30-day trial of Camtasia for Mac 2.2 is available with discounted pricing options available for EDU and nonprofit organizations. New users can purchase the software for $99 and existing Camtasia users can upgrade to version 2.2 for $49.50 per user.

The original idea of OfficeDrop was a good one: to allow users to scan paper documents and then manage, organize and store them in the cloud.

After raising an impressive amount of funding, the company has decided to take its product to the next level. The first big development? A set of mobile apps for the iPhone and iPad that turn a user's mobile device into a document scanner.

Now on-the-go users can do things such as scanning a receipt and sending it to an expense folder in the cloud, thanks to OfficeDrop's virtual "filing cabinet." Users can also go back and search for documents on their mobile devices, pulling up items scanned in the past for reference.

The company is also bolstering its ScanDrop Mac and ScanDrop Lite (which is free) desktop apps. These applications allow Mac users to integrate scanned papers with digital screenshots, which creates searchable PDFs. The improvement includes a new feature that lets users share scanned documents on social networks or store them in cloud services Evernote, Dropbox, OfficeDrop and Google Docs.

This allows OfficeDrop users to share text-searchable PDF files with unique links to a variety of places on the Web, including recipients' email addresses, Facebook, Twitter, Delicious, Tumblr, LinkedIn and Amazon Wish Lists, among others.

The real appeal of ScanDrop is that it's not just tied to OfficeDrop cloud services. Instead, it's compatibile with a variety of cloud providers, meaning that you can share your scanned documents with anyone using any of these services, as well as with your connections on all of the major social networks.

Skype has finally integrated Facebook into its services for Macs.

The new beta version of Skype for Macs gives users the ability to message and call Facebook friends as well as view a Facebook newsfeed that is reformatted for the Skype desktop application.

Skype 5.4 for Macs allows a user’s Skype account to connect with their Facebook account, and import everyone from their friends list to their Skype contacts. The contact page also breaks down everyone into categories, to separate Facebook friends from Skype users.

The newsfeed feature allows users to like and comment on statuses, as well as post their own statuses.

These new features for Mac users have already been available for Window users for almost a year.

Another addition for Skype 5.4 is the inclusion of ads on the home screen for non-paying Skype users. These ads can be seen above the activity timeline of Skype contacts and Facebook friends.

The new version will be available today from the Skype website.

Perhaps the most notable feature of the release is Skype Access, a service that lets users connect to any of the 100,000 Boingo WiFi hotspots using Skype. When Skype users connect, they will pay on a per-minute basis, and the fee (roughly 20 cents per minute) is deducted from their Skype Credit. No Boingo monthly fee and no hourly or daily fees either.

Another interesting feature is screen sharing. Users can share their entire screen or just one part of their screen with another Skype user. Now, a Mac Skype user can share their screen with Windows and Linux users - sweet.

Other features of the 2.8 realease include chat prioritization, notes on contacts, quick add, a new set of icons, mood message chat, larger avatars and hidden avatars.
