Monetize Mogulus With Adap.tv Plugin

Live-broadcast platform Mogulus announced the addition of a plug-in from Adap.tv, expanding the range of options customers have in monetizing their streaming video webcasts.

By expanding its already robust Internet video ecosystem to include Adap.tv’s capabilities as an integrator of advertising, Mogulus gives its PRO services customers a richer choice of features and functions to use in deriving advertising-based revenue from their streaming video programs. Mogulus is the only online video platform that combines live, 24/7 linear and on-demand broadcast video.

Mogulus is participating in Adap.TV’s Player Partner Program to add to the set of media-management services and video-publishing tools available to help customers monetize their video feeds.

"Integrating Adap.tv's One Source 2.0 platform as a plug-in to our Mogulus Pro service is a key milestone in enabling Mogulus Pro customers to monetize their live streaming content with pre-roll and overlay inventory from their own internal servers and third-party networks," said Mogulus co-founder and CEO Max Haot. “Since monetization is such a key part of the value we deliver to our customers, we’re very pleased to partner with Adap.tv.”

The Mogolus video platform has made a pro version of its offering available. If you have the resources, I highly advise you look into it, especially if you're a believer in video and streaming that content.

Pro accounts will automatically have Mogulus network overlay ads removed and users can opt in to use supported ad networks such as Google Adsense for Video or ScanScout to monetize their content. Mogulus is also offering analytics with the pro accounts. Users will be able to access statistics on viewer minutes, unique viewers, channel usage, content, embedded players, referrers and more.

Mogulus has also made some significant improvements to the quality of the platform in Pro accounts. Pro channels users can opt to broadcast HD-quality streams (up to 1.7 mbps) with On2 VP6 encoded media transcoded on Mogulus servers.

Most notably for me is that Pro accounts can remove the Mogulus logo and all Mogulus-related links from the Player for a completely self-branded user experience.

Mogulus Gets Google Overlay Ads

Starting tomorrow (May 29th, 2008) all free Mogulus accounts will see Google overlay advertisements displayed within their videos channels and embedded on Mogulus players. Despite Mogulus Pro not being available by credit card on the site, Mogulus is allowing an opt-out option which will allow video producers to disable the adverts on their channel - instructions on how to do that are on the site.

From the email announcement: "We hope you will agree that the ads are not too intrusive and, particularly in this first phase, we sincerely hope that you will leave them enabled. Advertising on Mogulus Free channels will help us to offset some of the high hosting bandwidth costs we are incurring every month and allow us to keep the free platform exactly that...free! We'll also be evaluating just how effective the ads are and this will help us plan a future release of advertising revenue share programs for selected Mogulus producers."

Live Web Broadcasting solution Mogulus announced its professional level offering this week. The platform enables companies to launch their own Internet-based television projects, cover live events, and even do some re-broadcasting.

The features of Mogulus Pro include a white-label or skinless player (no branding, and advertising-free), analytics, and higher quality video options including HD Live and On-Demand, H.264, and 16/9. There is also access to Mogulus APIs, time-based autop[ilot scheduling, private channels, additional storage and priority transcoding. I've done some rough-testing with the standard version of Mogulus and have to say that it's perhaps the best available solution in the market to date.

Mogulus: Broadcast Live

There are only a handful of Web-based services that I believe really carry the potential to enhance the interactivity of your site, and improve what and how we communicate.

Mogulus is one such solution and it's creating some interesting buzz on the Web. If you think that creating your own "TV" channel for Web users and integrating a live video stream would be beneficial, setting up an Mogulus account and getting started is a snap and could be worthy of your time and attention.

Registration is simple but actually establishing the channel you will broadcast from (especially if you're going to make it "just right") takes a little effort. Give yourself an hour or so to launch a new channel (setting up overlays, tickers, branding, etc.). Mogulus does make searching for videos to include in your broadcast simple by allowing users to search for existing YouTube videos or upload videos directly. The beauty of Mogulus as I see it is that you can take all the videos you have aggregated and mix them into an entirely new broadcast by cueing different clips. Users can even choose between streaming the content live or putting it on auto-pilot and repeating it for others to see.
