Job search engine Simply Hired announced a rather interesting integration with Facebook today.

users who log in to SimplyHired.com.au with Facebook are able to discover jobs based on their current or previous work titles, location, interests and their friends’ companies.

From the search results page, job seekers are able to browse friends’ companies and search for job openings. Privacy concern? Perhaps, but hey, you're already friends right? This changes job search from a passive to an active process by suggesting relevant jobs and helping users tap into insider knowledge about a job from their friends.

“Simply Hired is showing what’s possible when you make it easy to find jobs through friends,” said Ethan Beard, director of Facebook Developer Network. “Personal relationships and professional networking have always been the best ways to find a new job. By integrating with Facebook, Simply Hired is bringing this to life online and helping users tap into their social connections to personalize the job search process.”

SimplyHired is really pumping this up to be a big deal and connecting it to the world's largest social network in Facebook is a pretty saavy undertaking. The company indicated that beta testing of the feature has doubled engagement for opted-in users of the U.S. version of SimplyHired.com,

Finally, your friends can help you find a job online.”

Social Job Search with SimplyHired

Job search engine and recruitment advertising network SimplyHired released some new social job search features thanks to an integration with Linkedin, Facebook and Twitter.

Most noteworthy of the features is the LinkedIn mashup, which enables job seekers to view business connections instantly in their search results. The feature is an evolution of the Simply Hired “Who Do I Know” tool which allows users to connect to LinkedIn froma SimplyuHIred.co.uk job listing to find out if they have a contact within the organization. The altest release however takes that tool to a new level by allowing job seekers to see immediately see whether someone in their network is affiliate with a potential employer.

“Given the competitive employment landscape, it is imperative now more than ever for job seekers to leverage all possible avenues in pursuit of their dream job,” said Sachin Shah, director of international, Simply Hired. “With hundreds of applicants vying for any one role, a personal or professional connection within an organisation can give a job seeker the crucial advantage. Our new features show job seekers that there is hope; that their network of connections is more powerful than they believe.”

Job Board Fresho Accepts XML Feeds

Thanks to the current economic situation, employment sites are experiencing an increase in both the quantity of visitors and the number of job searches and the industry as a whole is seeing quite a bit of innovation.
