Site search provider SLI Systems announced that it worked directly with ArtBeads.com to integrate functionality from online pinboard Pinterest into its site search results.

Visitors to the bead and jewelry-making supply retailer's e-commerce website can now see the number of pins that various products have received from other Pinterest members right on the search results pages, and are able to pin any items they find to their own pinboards. Pinterest's "Pin it" button also appears on videos and within educational content sections on Artbeads.com.

"Our shoppers have embraced Pinterest because it aligns with their love of craft and jewelry design -- so it makes sense for us to guide them to products that have proven popular with other customers," said Devin Kimura, CEO of Artbeads.com. "By bringing pinned products into SLI site search and allowing people to pin products they like, we can help shoppers explore our products more deeply and benefit from the recommendations of other site visitors."

As you can see in the image below from ArtBeads.com, the integration is rather straightforward, but for active Pinterest users it could prove to be a terrific way to increase customer engagement.

SLI Systems, a search services provider for e-commerce and digital content sites, today announced the availability of a hosted solution that enables websites to develop a mobile Web presence.

SLI Mobile features advanced search and navigation capability and a product page creation capacity which is built on the company's learning engine. The solution is compatible with major e-commerce mobile device platforms and utilizes product data already in its possession to deliver a mobile site.

“The mobile commerce market is poised to explode in the next year, yet many online retailers are not prepared to meet the demands of customers who want to shop with their mobile devices,” said Shaun Ryan, CEO of SLI Systems. “In our recent survey of e-commerce business managers, 80% said they had not yet created a mobile version of their website, yet 83% are already seeing traffic from customers who come to their sites via mobile devices. It’s clear that retailers need to act quickly to bring their business to the mobile market if they want to take full advantage of shoppers on the go.”

While SLI’s mobile commerce survey from earlier this year revealed that most retailers aren’t prepared to meet the demands of the mobile market, the survey also showed that online retailers do recognize the importance of coming to market with mobile options for their customers: 60% of online retailers surveyed said they believe a mobile commerce strategy is very important or important to their overall business, and 70% said they plan to launch an m-commerce strategy within the next two years.

Site search provider SLI Systems announced two rather impressive enhancements to its solution. The company launched "Learning Search with AJAX" to improve and quicken site search and navigation experiences for users, and introduced "Conversion Optimizer" for multivariate testing of site search and navigation.

Learning Search with AJAX (which increases page load times resulting in higher conversion) requests only the necessary data from SLI’s search servers when a visitor performs a search or selects an option on the search page (for example, narrowing results based on price or color, re-ordering search results, switching between grid and list views, clicking on a related search, or viewing an additional page of results). Because Learning Search with AJAX doesn’t require a reload of the entire webpage, search results appear more quickly – an important must-have for e-commerce websites whose customers expect a site to be fast and efficient.

SLI Systemns also announced the launch of Conversion Optimzier today, a tool for conducting A/B and multivariate testing of search and navigation features. The solution will allow website owners to run tests on variations in site search design and features to determine which options encourage desirable customer behaviors, thereby improving conversions. For instance, site owners can test various positions for the search box, or format and refinement options for search results pages, and view the results of the tests in an easy-to-read console.

“Testing the various options for site search design takes a lot of time, and often doesn’t yield actionable results, leaving you without a clear indication of best practices for your site,” said Shaun Ryan, CEO of SLI Systems. “Our new Conversion Optimizer solves these problems, since we take care of the complex testing configurations for our customers – and they can see test results quickly.”
