The Planet Paying More – Hosting Resellers

Hosting provider The Planet improved the commission structure for its partner program; registered referral partners will now receive incentives on an even broader range of contract terms.

In addition to standard monthly recurring payments for contracts of 12 months or longer, The Planet now provides commissions for month-to-month agreements and six-month contracts. The Planet’s Partner Plus Referral Program provides pays out up to 20 percent of deal size.

The Planet and the Cloud

Web hosting provider The Planet has introduced its own cloud platform dubbed Server Cloud. The initial offering, according to the company, is designed for hosting companies and hosting resellers looking to compliment their dedicated server offerings.

Using KVM – Kernel-based Virtual Machine – for virtualization, customers gain access to next-generation cloud capabilities. KVM is rapidly becoming the open-source community standard for virtualization and the agreed-upon platform for future development. The Planet Server Cloud uses the Canonical Ubuntu Server for its KVM platform.

“The industry is rife with cloud services hindered by inconsistency and a lack of redundancy. By contrast, our customers count on us for high availability, rapid provisioning, seamless scalability and generous bandwidth, which they’ll find in our new Server Cloud. Customers are able to fully manage all aspects of their virtual servers, as well as include managed services for the platform, which provides the best value in the business,” said Carl Meadows, senior product manager for Cloud Services with The Planet.

The Planet: Now Out Of This World

Global IT hosting provider The Planet made a number of important announcements today that "extend its industry leadership role and set an enriched new direction for its customers" according to the statement. The Planet has made an entry into managed hosting under the Planet Northstar brand and added some advanced services under the Planet Alpha Dedicated Servers moniker.

The Planet's Hosting Affiliate Program

The Planet just announced the expansion of its partner offerings with the addition of an affiliate program. This generally would not warrant an announcement but The Planet is one of the largest and most influential dedicated hosting companies around. When affiliates refer a new dedicated hosting customer, they will receive a one-time, 65 percent commission based on that new customer's monthly recurring revenue after the third full month. That means earning referral commissions start at $44 and go up to $1,000 or more. This is quite the generous payout so if you're a designer or developer looking to build out your own revenue stream this could be a great solution.

Just to sweeten the deal a bit, The Planet also announced a celebratory kick-off promotion for the new program. For the month of February, the company will pay an additional $1,000 to the affiliate member who generates the largest volume of referrals. Another $250 has been designated as a bonus to the member who refers the month’s largest single transaction.
