A new study from Searchmetrics revealed that less than 1 percent of websites have implemented any Schema.org markup. With an increasingly competitive digital landscape however, those responsible for search engine optimization are going to need and work just a little bit smarter. The good news is that the benefits are, in some instances, dramatically positive.
Searchmetrics' study found that pages with Schema.org integration rank better by an average of four positions when compared to pages without. The report was cautious to note that pages with Schema markup may not actually be preferred by Google because they simply provide the integration. There are likely other reasons, including that those who know anything about SEO, realize the importance of providing more data about the content and context of their pages to the search engines.
