Social media monitoring tool Trackur has released an API, allowing businesses to receive data from Trackur’s database of mainstream news and social media sites. I for one can think of about one dozen uses already.

Developers using the Trackur API (XML and JSON) will be able to import search results to their database, create search queries to locate matching articles, provide results in various formats and integrate results into other services or tools.

While not the first such platform to provide an API, Trackur’s API release does signify the value that both developers and marketers are placing on social data.
