Facebook Ticker Meets Sponsored Ads

Facebook’s Ticker just became a little bit more profitable in the eyes of a marketer.

This week, Facebook started slowly rolling out Sponsored Stories – which are paid advertisements in the form of popular posts – into the news ticker.

This should be welcomed news to marketers that monitor Facebook Fan Pages, especially since it has seemed like the new Facebook redesign tends to push brand posts down in the main news feed.

Furthermore, Facebook Ads API service provider TBG Digital claimed in March that Sponsored Story ads receive a 46 percent higher click through rate, a 20 percent lower cost per click and an 18 percent lower cost per fan compared to standard Facebook ad units.
