The power of automation now resides in your pocket, thanks to the new iOS app from IFTTT.
IFTTT, which stands for “if this, then that” helps users simplify their lives by allowing them to automate daily tasks. These tasks, which the service dubs “recipes,” are created when a user connects two channels together. Then, when one channel signals a trigger, it results in an action in the other channel. For example, you could set Twitter to send a keep dry message automatically to your followers every time it rains in your local area. The platform has 67 total channels, including Facebook, Gmail, Evernote, Etsy, Google Drive, Feedly, HootSuite, LinkedIn, Yammer, Weather and WordPress.
It is important to note that the release of IFTTT’s iPhone app unlocked three new channels, which are included in the total number of 67. These channels include Contacts, Photos and Reminders. Users can create a variety of recipes around these channels, such as sending new contacts a hello email, adding iPhone screenshots to Dropbox or pushing all completed goals from Reminders into Google Calendar. And while there is certainly a lot more iOS channels that IFTTT can add, the company does state in a blog post that more will be coming in the future.
