Following a legal battle with BSkyB over the trademark of the “Sky” name, Microsoft has changed the name of its popular cloud-storage platform from SkyDrive to OneDrive.
According to Microsoft, the name OneDrive represents the one place that people want to store their most important stuff, such as photos, videos and documents.
“One place that is seamlessly connected across all the devices you use,” the Microsoft blog states. “You want OneDrive for everything in your life.”
It is important to note that current users of SkyDrive and SkyDrive Pro will still be able to leverage Microsoft’s storage service, with all saved content being available on OneDrive and OneDrive for Business as the new name is rolled out across the SkyDrive portfolio.
