With close to 40,000 plugins, WordPress is as versatile as a website owner wants it to be.
One of the many categories of plugins available through the content management system (CMS) is that of e-learning. With the global e-learning market expected to reach $107 billion by the end of this year, it's no wonder there are so many available WordPress plugins to help developers and site owners create and sell online courses. Here are four WordPress e-learning plugins that make the grade:
Easily customizable, teachPress offers a variety of use cases for academia. teachPress users can not only manage courses with integrated modules for enrollments, assessments and documents, but also publications as the plugin offers shortcodes to easily create publication lists (with the ability for end-users to search).
From creating and managing a course to communicating and testing students, LearnPress was designed for "lazy people" to be able to easily use. LearnPress is a free plugin (with premium options) and each course curriculum can be made with lessons and quizzes.
A highly regarded learning management system, LearnDash's LMS plugin offers easy implementation and the ability to create and sell courses, give quizzes, award certificates and download user reports. LearnDash has extensive experience consulting on learning programs for Fortune 500 companies as well as the U.S. government, making it one of the premier LMS plugins. Whereas this plugin is not as robust as some of the other options, StudyPress offers the ability to manage courses, lessons and quizzes as a slide presenter. Reviewers don't consider the plugin a full-fledge e-learning plugin, but appreciate its ease of use.
