Domain registar and hosting company Dotster announced that by partnering with the Bonneville Environmental Foundation, it has offset more than 150% of its domain name and web hosting servers environmental impact. 4.4 million websites are now being powered by wind energy.

“As one of the world’s largest domain name registrars and Web hosting companies, we wanted to take the first step in leading our industry in sustainable business practices,” said Clint Page, CEO, Dotster.com.

Dotster’s 150% wind power offsets fund renewable energy projects like the Tatanka Wind Farm, one of the largest in the western United States. As part of its ongoing infrastructure replenishment, Dotster donates its used computers and servers to local schools. Any remaining equipment is recycled through certified electronics recycling companies.
