IT management company ManageEngine (a division of Zoho) released Social IT Plus earlier this month, a private social networking software for IT departments.
The on-premise software helps IT teams - be they at large enterprises or within data centers - collaborate in real time by establishing a communication platform (similar to Yammer) that can be used to address infrastructure health. Social IT Plus does by pulling information from various IT management tools, including ManageEngine's own network management platform OpManager (as well as tools from HP, IBM, Microsoft and CA).
“We have bridged the long-standing gap between IT management tools and a communication platform with Social IT Plus,” said Dev Anand, director of product management at ManageEngine. “Now, admins have a way to collaborate on issues in real time and improve the mean-time-to-repair.”
Social IT Plus, pricing for which starts at $495 for two technicians per year (additional licenses cost $95 for each user per year) is essentially the downloadable, on-premise version of the company’s SaaS-based social networking service for IT teams.
