Google offers free hosting to SMB’s in India

There will soon be reason to pay more attention to the Web usage of India. Google made the news this morning by offering 500,000 free websites to small and medium businesses in India.

Google partnered with web hosting powerhouse HostGator to offer free domain names and website hosting for a period of one year. After the 12 months are up, businesses will have the option to renew their services with HostGator at a discounted fee. Only organizations in India will qualify.

Google is also offering SMB’s in India a 2500 rupees (US$50) free advertising trial on Google AdWords to promote their sites.

Configuration management solution provider Evolven this week released its software-as-a-Service (SaaS) based Change Monitoring service.

The Evolven solution monitors, analyzes and delivers information on changes and configurations in the data center and on the cloud, giving those in IT an opportunity to reduce the risk of potentially risky changes and improve overall stability.

“IT Operations needs to take a new approach,” says Sasha Gilenson, CEO of Evolven, “Evolven’s Change Monitoring solution was specifically designed to meet the demanding dynamics and complexity requirements driving today’s IT environments. It will allow IT operations to know exactly what has changed in their environments, eliminate configuration drift, maintain environment consistency, validate changes, and investigate incident root-cause.”

A recent survey found that of IT professionals, 69% held that their current configuration management approach was ineffective for running modern data centers and cloud.
