In order to improve application delivery performance, Array Networks has announced four new enterprise-class application delivery controllers: APV2600 for small-to-medium-sized businesses, APV5600 for enterprise’s with ‘larger traffic demands,” APV10600 for global organizations and service providers and Array’s top-shelf application delivery controller, the APV10650. Each of these new appliances places a particular emphasis on providing enhanced price performance for 2048-bit SSL acceleration, which is currently the most common “advanced” feature for customers that are buying a load balancer or application delivery controller, as it helps ensure secure applications, content and transactions over the Internet. In addition, these new delivery controllers provide server and link load balancing, global server load balancing (GSLB), connection multiplexing, SSL acceleration, compression, caching, traffic shaping and application security. It also comes with a number of “next generation features” at no extra cost, such as: - ePolicy scripting that allows administrators to create custom logic to control application traffic - IPv6 Ready Forum Gold Certification that supports feature parity and the ability to operate in IPv6 networks - Support for migration from IPv4 to IPv6, along with a means for both...(read more)

Percona Offered by Big Hosting Companies

High performance is, obviously, the ultimate goal of any Web hosting company worth its salt. Perhaps that is why so many notable names in the hosting industry have been turning to Percona , the enterprise-level MySQL support, consulting, training and development services provider. Basically, Percona works to make MySQL faster and more reliable for its clients, and as of late, it’s being seeing “rapid and increasing adoption” by hosting providers, some of which are pretty huge names, including RackSpace, Blue Host, HP, Joyent, Crucial Web Hosting and SpeedySparrow. These providers are all making available to their customers the latest release of Percona’s enhanced drop-in replacement for MySQL, known as Percona Server version 5.5.28-29.1. In fact, Percona Server is actually one of the top three most deployed MySQL alternatives around, according to a report from 451 Research. And it’s no surprise why, as Percona Server offers hosting providers advanced features that can speed up their searches and increase security, as well as giving administrators more control over their server environments. Plus, it’s a free, open source solution that provides breakthrough performance, scalability, features and instrumentation, in addition to self-tuning algorithms and support for high-performance hardware. Not too shabby....(read more)

Do Business in the Cloud with New VMware-based Service

If you’ve been
thinking about moving your business to the cloud, Web hosting provider American
Internet Services (AIS) may have just the solution for you with its new Infrastructure-as-a-Service
(IaaS) offering AIS BusinessCloud1.

Designed with a keen eye on security, performance and
redundancy, BusinessCloud1 is based on the popular VMware software suite, which
features computing and storage technology from Cisco, Dell, Arista and NetApp.
VMware offers AIS extensive functionality and a robust ecosystem of both support
and product development, as well as a widespread adoption rate around the
industry.

Users will have access to integrated VMware network and
storage quality of features that are set to production service standards,
meaning network storage will be redundant, diversified and optimized for
performance. It also comes with self-healing systems architecture and an automated
failover operating system; the AIS regional optical and transit networks
provide high-speed network access.

Perhaps the best part of this new service is the variety of
ways that a business can employ it. Companies can use BusinessCloud1 as an IT
extension to give a direct connection to their current VMware infrastructure to
be managed using vCenter. Or, they can use it as a hybrid cloud solution with
instant IT scalability, built-in firewalling, a single management console and
complete public and private network isolation.

Last, but not least, BusinessCloud1 can be used as a
disaster recovery site that mirrors data between sites with full infrastructure
duplication.

The AIS BusinessCloud1 IaaS is available as either a
pay-as-you-go service or allocated resources basis, and both options come with
real-time support and access to the self-provisioning VMware vCloudDirector
portal and API.

The Evolven solution monitors, analyzes and delivers information on changes and configurations in the data center and on the cloud, giving those in IT an opportunity to reduce the risk of potentially risky changes and improve overall stability.

“IT Operations needs to take a new approach,” says Sasha Gilenson, CEO of Evolven, “Evolven’s Change Monitoring solution was specifically designed to meet the demanding dynamics and complexity requirements driving today’s IT environments. It will allow IT operations to know exactly what has changed in their environments, eliminate configuration drift, maintain environment consistency, validate changes, and investigate incident root-cause.”

A recent survey found that of IT professionals, 69% held that their current configuration management approach was ineffective for running modern data centers and cloud.

LunarPages hosting plans now include 200GB of storage (up from 50GB), 1400 GB of bandwidth (up from 500GB), and has reduced its price to $19.95 per month.

“We recognize that, in our saturated market, we can easily offer relief to webmasters by enhancing our Reseller Plan and reducing their financial investment. The certification process was created by the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA) and allows infrastructure-as-a-service providers to remain transparent with customers in proving a secure system of internal controls is utilized.

SAS 70 Type II certification is an in-depth follow-up to Type I to verify and validate that a company is actually adhering to the procedures outlined in Type I and that they are operating effectively. Codero completed Type I certification for its data center and corporate-wide operations March 4, 2010 and followed up with the Type II certification which will now be conducted annually. The SAS Type II report may be used as a substitute for performing first-hand testing in conjunction with financial statement preparation or Sarbanes-Oxley compliance.

According to Shawn Hashmi, Director, Operations at Codero, “A SAS 70 audit offers proof of our security expertise. It allows us to disclose our control activities and processes to our customers in a uniform reporting format that is widely recognized internationally and gives our customers confidence that Codero has the safeguards in place to meet their needs for the highest type of security.”
