Among enterprise customers, specifically, the cloud is quickly becoming more of a present reality than a technology of the future. Bluelock is a certified VMware vCloudR Datacenter provider of Virtual Datacenters that are hosted in the public cloud, but more importantly, it’s one of the companies helping to drive this significant public cloud growth. Earlier this week, the company announced “continued strong enterprise growth,” adding a number of midsize-to-large enterprise organizations to its roster, including the VMware vFabricT Application Director, F5 Networks, eMeter and Codesigned, among others. The company’s growth in its Virtual Datacenter revenue now exceeds 50 percent in a year-over-year comparison. In addition, Bluelock has been named to the list of the “10 Most Powerful IaaS Companies” by Network World, made CRN’s list of the 100 Coolest Cloud Computing Vendors of 2012 and got a mention in the “Talkin’ Cloud 100” report from Nine Lives Media. In other words, the company is becoming quite the hot commodity in the world of cloud computing. A Bluelock Virtual Datacenter takes just a few minutes to set up using either vCloud’s Director-based self-service interface or Bluelock’s managed services team, and it allows customers to quickly build virtual machines (VM) with public or private catalogs of VM templates. Or, if...(read more)

Do Business in the Cloud with New VMware-based Service

If you’ve been
thinking about moving your business to the cloud, Web hosting provider American
Internet Services (AIS) may have just the solution for you with its new Infrastructure-as-a-Service
(IaaS) offering AIS BusinessCloud1.

Designed with a keen eye on security, performance and
redundancy, BusinessCloud1 is based on the popular VMware software suite, which
features computing and storage technology from Cisco, Dell, Arista and NetApp.
VMware offers AIS extensive functionality and a robust ecosystem of both support
and product development, as well as a widespread adoption rate around the
industry.

Users will have access to integrated VMware network and
storage quality of features that are set to production service standards,
meaning network storage will be redundant, diversified and optimized for
performance. It also comes with self-healing systems architecture and an automated
failover operating system; the AIS regional optical and transit networks
provide high-speed network access.

Perhaps the best part of this new service is the variety of
ways that a business can employ it. Companies can use BusinessCloud1 as an IT
extension to give a direct connection to their current VMware infrastructure to
be managed using vCenter. Or, they can use it as a hybrid cloud solution with
instant IT scalability, built-in firewalling, a single management console and
complete public and private network isolation.

Last, but not least, BusinessCloud1 can be used as a
disaster recovery site that mirrors data between sites with full infrastructure
duplication.

The AIS BusinessCloud1 IaaS is available as either a
pay-as-you-go service or allocated resources basis, and both options come with
real-time support and access to the self-provisioning VMware vCloudDirector
portal and API.

VMware is going to help its cloud service provider partners using the company's vCloud Director solution automate cloud delivery and operations by releasing the vCloud Integration Manager.

This new solution will be available to vCloud users sometime during Q1 of this year.

The software will make it easy to create and deploy cloud service offerings with haste, while also helping improve the efficiency of vCloud operations and scale to meet customers' demands.

Since Q3 of 2011, VMware has seen a huge increase in the number partners offering services that meet the vCloud Powered criteria since it was launched a year ago. Of course, growing adoption leads to more demand for tools to simplify the provisioning and deployment processes.

Enter vCloud Integration Manager. This new solution will be "tightly integrated" with vCloud Director, vSphere, vShield Edge and the vCenter Chargeback Manager for automated provisioning and infrastructure delivery. And, like other vCloud services, it'll be priced on a usage-based subscription model.

The solution will provide a Web-based admin portal that integrates with a partner's systems. Within the portal, service providers can automate a service plan, customer lifecycle and reseller management and standardize product configuration and delivery to reduce the time and overhead costs involved in reseller transactions.

Evaluating and selecting cloud service solutions just got simpler thanks to VMware launching the VMware Solution Exchange, a new online virtualization and cloud solutions marketplace.

With a community over over 2000 technology partners, who, combined, have created well over 3500 applications and 6000 infrastructure products compatibile with VMware, it seems like a natural move to open a marketplace. VMware Solution Exchange will be avaible to all of these partners and developers who "integrate, interoperate or complement VMware's product portfolio," so that they can congregate in a single online location to buy and sell solutions.

In the marketplace, customers will be able to use search tools, engage with multimedia content and network with other partners and developers. Those selling solutions will be able to show off their creations with product overviews, downloadable trial offers and, of course, YouTube videos, among other types of marketing content.

And, in the true spirit of democracy, buyers will be able to rate (on a five-star system) and review their solution purchases.

VMware also shared some other big news: The general release of the VMware vCenter Operations Management Suite to help users deliver IT "as a service" through automated operations of virtual and cloud environments.
