Sixty Seconds With Springer: Transcript for February 13th, 2008

Good morning and welcome to the Web in sixty seconds. I'm your host Kelly Springer and here is what's happening on the 'Net.

Microsoft Corp. is giving students free access to its most sophisticated tools for writing software and making media-rich Web sites. This move could intensify Microsoft’s competition with Adobe Systems challenge open source software's popularity.

U.S. consumers clicked mostly on Web sites that gave them information on taxes, politics, real estate and job hunting tips in January according to ComScore Media Metrix. Comscore released its monthly analysis of consumer activity at the top online sites Monday.

A new IDC study of consumer online behavior found that the Internet is the medium on which online users spend the most time (32.7 hours/week). This is equivalent to almost half of the total time spent each week using all media (70.6 hours).

That's what's happening today on the Web - tune in tomorrow for more of the Web in Sixty Seconds.
