So you have a bunch of geek friends and they have content spread out across the Internet. One friend likes to upload photos to her Flickr account, another frequently blogs on MySpace and yet another likes to Twitter all day. While you would like to keep up with what they are doing, visiting all of these sites can be cumbersome and time-consuming.

Spokeo solves this issue by tracking all of your friends' postings online and aggregates them into one page for fast viewing and scanning. Just a few of the sites Spokeo can track are MySpace, Blogger, Flickr, Twitter, YouTube, Yelp and LinkedIn - but there are many more and others are being added all the time. Essentially, Spokeo takes your email address to create a list of your "friends" - or people you have emailed in the past. Those email addresses are mined for content from the included networks in the Spokeo network and sent to your account.

From their website, privacy concerns are addressed this way: Spokeo preserves and protects the privacy of all third-party content. Spokeo users can only track content that they already have access to. All users can track information that is publicly available. Only users who have accesss to private content on a third party site can track that private content in Spokeo. Spokeo verifies private content access through its authentication system.

Other people do not know that they are being tracked. So, along with the ability to follow other people online, this should serve as a stern warning to make sure you never publish anything online with public access that you do not want seen by anyone else. Sounds simple enough, but there are plenty of people publishing online that are not aware that their content is open for public consumption. Think about that the next time you're wondering if your boss - or potential boss - knows what you're up to on YouTube, MySpace, Friendster, Blogger ...
