Second Life Going Mobile

While we're on the go, we are increasingly in our own little worlds. With iPods, streaming video on mobile devices and Web surfing, you hardly need to even look up. Now you can really sink into your own world wherever you are. Vollee is bringing Second Life to your 3G mobile device. Keys on your phone will be mapped to execute commands in the virtual world. So I guess this means you could sit in a coffee shop, chat with an alien and dance in a club all at the same time.

From the Vollee press release: "What we have developed is a service which, for the first time, allows you to access a rich persistent virtual 3D world the way it is supposed to be experienced on your phone," said Martin Dunsby, CEO, Vollee.  "This is a true ‘before and after moment' in which mobile is living up to its potential in serving as an always on, connected platform."

Now you don't need to bother daydreaming anymore. Imagination is overrated anyway.

Beta trials begin in May 2008, but you can pre-register at Vollee's website.
