Buy Gas at Today's Prices, Fill Up Later

Think gas prices are going to continue to rise? At MyGallons.com, you can purchase a pre-paid card at today's gas prices, then fill up your tank at a later date when prices are higher, no matter how high they go. To begin, you have to sign up and pay the annual membership fee of $29.95 for the auto-fill program, $39.95 for the manual fill. You can then purchase gallons, and add to the card as you go along - the price will fluctuate depending on the market. The price applies to regular, unleaded gasoline. Your total gallons available on your card will be reduced should you decide to buy premium or diesel fuel at the pump.

A pitfall to avoid is overdraft. Should you overdraft your card at the pump, you will be charged the current cost per gallon, plus an overdraft fee of $15. Enrolling in the auto-fill program (your card automatically purchases more fuel when the balance drops below 15 gallons) will avoid the overdrafts. However, you're then subject to current pricing. If you fill up at a station where the cost is lower that the MyGallons range of that day, you will receive a credit, in gallons, to your account. You can also get refunds for unused pre-purchased gallons.

Also, there is a $1.95 fee fro processing the reloading of your MyGallons Card via a credit card.

MyGallons cards are accepted at most major stations, including Amoco, Shell, 76, BP, Chevron, Citgo, Marathon and Texaco. For a list of stations that accept the card in your area, check the Location Finder (coming soon.) The website also claims that many marinas also accept the MyGallons card for fueling your boat.

If you're interested, there is a calculator on the site that will help you determine if it's worth it. Read the FAQ section carefully.
