Blogging took the Web by storm. And if earfl has a say, voice blogging will be the next wave. Similar to podcasting, but accessible via your mobile phone, earfl lets you call a number - (415) 223-3802 - and record whatever you want, up to three minutes. Press # when finished, then 1 to post to the site. You will then be prompted to say a few keywords and add your location, if you wish. Go to the website to hear your recording, add photos or slideshows, tags, write a description and share with your friends. You can also get a piece of code to embed the story on your website or blog, or embed the last three stories from your account, if you choose. Recently, earfl added the capability to record from your desktop. You can even burn an audio CD using iTunes - read the earfl blog for details.
earfl offers a nice function with groups - create a group and you can get your friends to record their own messages or stories, without the need for them to sign up. You get a unique group phone number to record, and you can choose to keep the group private or set it to public.
The service is easy, the interface is intuitive and overall its fun and a good way to add some flavor to your blog or website or even just to entertain friends and family or to keep people up-to-date - kind of like Twitter with audio. Check out my recording.
