    Email Click Throughs

Bare with me, I'm learning the industry, the following is either a small revelation or I am really confused:) If you send someone an email with a link to your website, say for example with a newsletter, coupon or a special offer, If that person clicked on that link through their email, does that count as visitor? And if it does is that email marketing? Would these clicks increase your overall seo, page rank, etc ?

    Welcome to the industry - ; )

If you send an email newsletter and someone clicks through and ends up on your website, it does count as a visitor. Email marketing is a process wherein you develop lists of interested prospects - for example through an online form, develop content on a regular basis and send out that content on a regular basis (daily, weekly, monthly).

Clicks from emails in no way influence positioning on search results pages.
