Skype App Update; 3G Calling on iPhone Now Available

Skype has just announced that an updated version of its iPhone app has been released to the App Store and now allows calling over 3G - and free for the remainder of 2010. This functionality has been available on the iPhone since a January update to the SDK. Also included in this update are UI tweaks and a call quality indicator to help predict what a VOIP-over-3G call quality will be like.

The Skype iPhone app works on the iPad 3G too!

Considering the announcement of the iPhone 4 yesterday, and the FaceTime app, looks like Skype might be irrelevant to iPhone users.

Skype will always be usefull for iPhone users abroad. Can't beat 2 Cents a minute calls when you are out of the country and you have WiFi access.
