E-Commerce Sales Not Slowing Down

Posted on 8.20.2007

According to the Census Bureau of the Department of Commerce, U.S. retail e-commerce sales totaled $31.8 billion for the second quarter of 2007 - up 20.7% from the same period in 2006 and exceeding expectations of many analysts.

"The Department of Commerce data defy the expectations of a number of e-commerce analysts who believed the market would slow down considerably this year," said Jeffrey Grau, Senior Analyst at eMarketer.

Many analysts have projected that e-commerce sales would level off. However, that hasn't happened yet. Still, eMarketer projects that it will happen. They predict a 20.8% increase from 2006 to 2007, with a continual slower growth rate down to 15% growth by 2011.
