Facebook Messages Now Incorporate Email
Facebook has just made a major leap in social networking by extending their reach far beyond registered users of the site. The up-and-coming social network now allows Facebook messages to be sent as an email - meaning users can share their photos, messages, happenings on their profiles with people not signed up to the network. Simply enter an email address in the "To:" line and Facebook will send the message as an email.
While privacy issues may prevent some material from being visible to an email recipient, this capability enables Facebook users to network and promote their profiles to anybody with an email address - whether they are members of MySpace, Bebo or no network at all. Good for users, excellent for Facebook's marketing efforts. It's easy to imagine that when people start getting Facebook emails from friends, colleagues and coworkers, they will be that much more inclined to sign up. Marketing your website, company or professional network through a social network just got much easier and effective. Look for Facebook's memberships to skyrocket - and for MySpace to scramble for a counter punch. The Facebook rival is already losing members in record numbers.
