While some Web professionals proclaim that the Web is teetering on the edge of a
phenomenal crash, others are focusing on what they can do to improve their
existing environment. By understanding how well (or how poorly) things are
going, we can make informed decisions for the benefit and sustainability of our
Web enterprises and those that support its endeavors.

The focus of this issue of
Website Magazine is analytics. Our feature article will help those new
to measuring the performance of their Web properties and there are also
many in-depth insights that will change how you currently measure,
review and understand the numbers that represent success for your online
presence in the dynamic environment of the Web. While it used to be
sufficient just to keep track of unique visitors and page views, much
has changed. In the last great landscape where we as Web professionals
can make adjustments to achieve true improvement to the bottom line, the
issue at hand is really that success on any major scale requires us to
accept responsibility for actions already taken. Only when we understand
what has worked and what has not are we able to push our enterprises
forward. Entering our third year, Website Magazine is at the top of its game – but we’re not slowing down. With 16 tradeshows scheduled and an intense editorial lineup, I encourage all readers to keep looking to Website Magazine while on their path to true success. Stay up-to-date with what’s happening on and around the Web and share your insights with the entire WM community by subscribing to our weblog – you’ll be glad you did. Best Web Wishes, Peter Prestipino — Editor in Chief New in 2008 at Website Magazine WM Consumer Corner: Senior Editor Mike Phillips is spearheading the release of the Website Magazine Consumer Corner — a daily weblog focusing on fascinating websites and the interesting tools that are changing the way everyone utilizes the ‘Net.
