Virtual Feds Make a Trip to Second Life
FBI investigators have made a trip to Second Life to visit the resident casinos there - at the invitation of Linden Lab.
"We have invited the FBI several times to take a look around in Second Life and raise any concerns they would like, and we know of at least one instance that federal agents did look around in a virtual casino," said Ginsu Yoon, Linden Lab's vice president for business affairs.
The casinos, and overall exchange of Linden dollars, has come under much scrutiny lately. When looking at it in plain site, real money is exhanged for Lindens, which are then gambled in Second Life casinos. Not only are parts of the casino dealings considered illegal by some, but this is a sure sign that tax issues surrounding the sales of virtual real estate, merchandise and avatar attributes will be getting a closer look soon.
