Internet Ad Spending Ushering a New Era

Posted on 11.07.2007
A new eMarketer analysis and projections puts total Internet ad spend at $21.4 billion for 2007 - a total of 7.4% of all media ad spend. By 2011 it is expected to soar to $42 billion and a total of 13.3% of all media spend. Those are big numbers but not all that surprising - considering Internet advertising spend surpassing $5 billion in Q2 of 2007, the largest ever seen in any one quarter.

eMarketer Senior Analyst David Hallerman puts these projections in perspective: “Data from both eMarketer and TNS Media Intelligence indicate that 2007 Internet ad spending will be higher than for radio, as reported in August. That is the first time online ad spending will be greater than for any of the four traditional measured media.” Traditional media includes television, radio, newspapers and magazines.
