Mobile Answers with Mosio

Posted on 1.31.2008
One thing Yahoo! has done right over the past several years is their Answers site. There is a wealth of user-generated information there. Ask a question of the community and you will usually get a quick response (or ten) and chances are you're question will get answered and rather accurately. Answers can be an extremely useful site - but what if you have a burning question and you're not near a computer?

Mosio has you covered. Very similar to answers, users can ask a question from their mobile device and get a quick answer. It works like this: You sign up and find people to invite to your Qniverse (question universe). Then, when you ask a question to your Qniverse, and they are online, they send you answers to your question. And it works the other way - when those in your Qniverse ask a question and you're online, you help them out and offer up an answer of your own (there's no such thing as a free lunch, you know). It's free to use, but regular text-messaging rates from your carrier apply - again, the whole free lunch thing.

I suppose you could use your phone to search Google to find your answers, but try searching on a mobile device for something specific. It's painful.

I think Claire R. from California sums it up best on Mosio's testimonial page: "It's borderline silly, yet so incredibly useful!"
