Never Lose Your Passwords

Posted on 2.22.2008
You have accounts with Facebook, LinkedIn, Digg, Stumbleupon, The New York Times, your bank, Netflix, Email, Google ... the list is long and so is the list of passwords for each of them. And if you're like me, you occassionally lose or forget them. Then there's the whole process of needing to recover or reset them. Not fun. provides a secure system to store all of these passwords so you never lose them again. It's free and easy to set up. And the obvious question is: How secure is it?

NeedMyPassword is certified by HackerSafe, AlertSite and Trust Guard, among others. They use 128-bit one-way encryption to ensure there are no breaches and claim that even if the site were hacked, your info would be unreadable. And to show they're serious - if you lose your password to, all they can do reset your account. They don't have access to your passwords.

I'm not sure I'll be storing my credit card, mortgage or banking information at NeedMyPassword, but for all the other sites I frequent that demand usernames and passwords, this is going to be handy.
