Online Ad Revenue Going Strong - Very Strong

A PricewaterhouseCoopers study, conducted by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB), confirms what everyone knows - online ad revenues are thriving. For the first half of 2007 revenues neared $10 billion, up more than 26% from last year. Part of the total included near $5.1 billion in one quarter - a record in Internet advertising.

"Advertisers understand that they need to move their dollars here [to the Internet] to reach their audiences," said David Doty, an IAB senior vice president.

"The torrid growth of interactive advertising revenue persists and these results are really no surprise but very welcome news," said Randall Rothenberg, president and CEO of the Interactive Advertising Bureau.

Leading the way was search spending (41%), followed by display-related ads (32%) - including rich media (8%), banners/display ads (21%) and sponsorships (3%). The full report is available here.
