The beta version of web publishing startup Synthasite launched today. The platform is unique in that it integrates API's (Application Programming Interfaces) from third parties into a single environment that allows end-users to drag and drop content into their Web pages. The latest features include free hosting and sub-domains, widgets from multiple platforms and services (Revver Video, Metacafe Video, YourMinis), templates with dynamic menus, image hosting, and about a dozen or so layouts.
I was an official Alpha tester of the solution and am impressed with its ease of use. The beta version has made a lot of progress and it is a good solid solution for those that want to publish a website but have no experience doing so whatsoever. All sites created with Synthasite are hosted on a subdomain. This may dissuade a few in the know from trying out the service - it's definitely a potential area of improvement for Synthasite. But with a price tag of zero, it's worth the few minutes it takes to score yourself a new site.
