Website of the Day: theweblist.net

Posted on 2.19.2008
Monday I wrote about Alltop.com, a collection of RSS feeds presented in an easy-to-read format for quick scanning of news from some top media outlets including CNN, BBC, USA Today and The New York Times. Theweblist.net provides a similar service, but from a different crop of sources - those geared towards the Web geek in all of us.

From their website, "THEWEBLIST.net is a snapshot of what people are clicking on around the internet right now. A single page with the latest news and stories from some of the Internet’s most popular websites." Again, feeds are presented in a clean format that is easy to scan. Hovering your mouse over the headlines provides a little more information to get a quick synopsis of the story before clicking to another page. Some of the sources include digg.com, del.icio.us, Google News, newsvine, reddit, Wired.com, Stumbleupon and a selection of videos from YouTube.

If this sounds a lot like Popurls.com, that's because they are nearly identical. The major difference is that Theweblist pares down the selection a bit, making for a faster scan of news. Either site is a nice snapshot of news from around the Web from the Web's top 2.0-style sources and can save you from needing to visit dozens of other sites.
