Yelp Reviews Get Traction

Local.com yesterday announced a relationship with Yelp.com which provides the local search engine with over two million reviews and ratings. The development signifies a major increase of local business content for users visiting the Local.com site. It also signifies the power of syndication and the importance of social media. Several months ago Yelp released an API publicly, so you can expect more announcements from niche search providers like Local.

“Every day, thousands of yelpers share their local insights with others through informative and entertaining reviews,” said Geoff Donaker, chief operating officer, Yelp.  “We’re excited to introduce these witty writers to Local.com’s 10 million monthly visitors.”

This should certainly motivate those with local businesses to monitor what's being said about their companies online and encourage them to increase their own engagement in these types of social environments. It's staring to become a "do or die" sort of proposition.
