Acquisitions & Milestones (Jan. '13)
■ ExactTarget recently acquired
privately-held marketing automation
provider Pardot, LLC. This move extends
ExactTarget’s ability to serve both B2B and
B2C marketers worldwide.
■ My Virtual Model announced the acquisition of MimicMe, a European leader in virtual fitting room applications. This acquisition expands My Virtual Model’s European presence.
■ PayPal is now partnered with Money- Gram. This relationship will expand PayPal’s offline presence, as in the future PayPal customers can use MoneyGram for in-person transactions.
■ Yelp dished out approximately $50 million to acquire Europe’s largest local reviews site, Qype (and its biggest European rival). Integrations will start with mobile.
■ Zillow, , a real estate search engine, acquired Buyfolio, a platform that helps brokers and clients connect, search, organize and collaborate.
■ Blue Boxclosed $3.5 million in Series A funding (led by Voyager Capital). Funding will help Blue Box increase product innovation, obtain additional engineers and expand marketing and sales efforts.
■ LocalVoxsecured $7.4 million Series A funding led by Talus Holding. The local marketing firm also announced the acquisition of fellow New York startup, Postling.
■ CloudFare, which “supercharges” websites, partnered with trust service provider GlobalSign. The move makes GlobalSign the fastest SSL provider on the Internet.
■ YouTube launched a “new generation of original channels” coming from France, Germany, the U.K. and the U.S. The company hopes more advertising dollars will ensue.
■ Polycom a video conferencing company, announced RealPresence CloudAxis, which will enable users to add other video apps to their video conferences (e.g. Skype, Facebook and Google Talk).
