Ads Arrive at Instagram
It’s official – ads have finally come to Instagram.
According to the popular image-based social network’s blog, U.S. users will begin seeing “occasional” ads in their Instagram feeds, in both image and video format. Instagram says that the roll out of ads will be slow, currently giving the opportunity to just a handful of brands that are already members of its community. It is important to note that users will have some control over the ads that appear in their feeds, because they will be able to hide ads that they don’t like as well as provide feedback about ads.
“Our aim is to make any advertisements you see feel as natural to Instagram as the photos and videos many of you already enjoy from your favorite brands,” the blog states. “After all, our team doesn’t just build Instagram, we use it each and every day. We want these ads to be enjoyable and creative in much the same way you see engaging, high-quality ads when you flip through your favorite magazine."
