Affiliates Get the Shaft From Amazon

Websites that monetize their properties with Amazon's affiliate programs are about to see their payouts decrease dramatically.

Amazon has reportedly moved to a system that is based on the category of product, rather than one where the payout percentage is based on the volume of sales referred (and the price of the product, of course).

The change, which went into effect on March 1, 2017, will undoubtedly be quite disruptive for many thousands of Amazon Associates and result in a significant reduction in revenue for certain websites.

Amazon, which made the change abroad (overseas) back in 2015, is really downplaying the impact but there are rumblings now of affiliates preparing their departure from the program altogether.
