Ajax-Enabled Site Search From WebSideStory

Posted on 10.04.2006
WebSideStory today announced the release of an Ajax-enabled site search solution. Dubbed "Active Browsing", the service extends WebSideStory Search solutions and enables any e-commerce site to integrate one of Web 2.0's enabling technologies, Ajax (Asynchronous JavaScript and XML), into their product search results.

While it may not be the industry's first site search solution using Ajax, it very well may be the first solution of its kind on the commercial enterprise level. As Ajax gains in popularity, shoppers (and the merchants who host them) will see greatly enhanced speed and interactivity, and a more refined online shopping experience by engaging in what WebSideStory at least is calling "clickless browsing" -- the ability to preview additional product facets and "more like this" categories just by rolling their mouse over specific search results.

Overall an interesting development and something to keep on the old radar screen for Web merchants. For information about Active Browsing and WebSideStory Search, visit
