Amazon Pushing Login and Pay with Startups

Posted on 4.13.2014

Amazon is looking to close the gap between itself and competing payment processors in the e-commerce startup sector, offering free processing for their first 10,000 in transactions over 12 months.

Merchants that use the Login and Pay with Amazon technology solution on their websites, which allows Amazon users to pay by entering their Amazon credentials (username and password), are eligible for the program. It's a good deal on the surface as Amazon typically charges 2.9 percent plus a per transaction fee of $0.30 (for purchases of $10 or more).

The program will likely prove attractive to startup companies who are often strapped for cash. Businesses must have an AWS Activate account to participate in the offer.
