Amazon Says So Long to Flash Ads
Amazon announced that it will no longer accept Flash ads on Amazon.com, AAP (Amazon Advertising Platform), and various IAB standard placements across its owned/operated domains.
According to the official announcement, the development has been driven (at least in part) by recent browser setting updates from Google Chrome (as well as changes that were already in place from Mozilla Firefox and Apple Safari). Those browser updates essentially limit how Flash content is displayed on Web pages.
"This change ensures customers continue to have a positive, consistent experience across Amazon and its affiliates, and that ads displayed across the site function properly for optimal performance," indicated Amazon in its updated technical guidelines.
The changes take effect on September 1, 2015.
