A New Deal For AOL

Posted on 4.09.2007
AOL has extended and modified its relationship with Google and will begin offering a white label solution to advertisers. Advertisers utilizing the new service will no longer be promoted through Adwords or the Google content network but will be able to purchase both display and search ads exclusively on the AOL Search Marketplace (not AOL's speciality sites however, like local, shopping, image, video and news search).

While AOL subscriptions have gone down dramatically over the past eighteen months (hovering around 15 million at the moment), they are switching to a business model that focuses more on ad revenues than subscription fees. It seems to be working, In 2006, AOL's ad revenue grew 41 percent compared with 2005.
