Bigcommerce Retailers Get Direct Access to Alibaba.com Suppliers

Posted on 4.09.2015

A new collaboration between Alibaba and Bigcommerce is making it simple for online retailers to gain access to Alibaba.com suppliers.

The Alibaba.com Wholesale solution is immediately available to Bigcommerce’s 70,000 stores, enabling online merchants to access and purchase more than 30,000 products from about 300 of Alibaba.com’s Gold Suppliers in China, with the possibility to expand to more than 3 million products from thousands of Gold Suppliers.

Developed by both Alibaba.com and Bigcommerce, the custom-built application provides retailers with a unique catalog of wholesale suppliers in a secure manner so merchants can quickly find and select new products to sell online.

“Small businesses are the backbone of the global economy and it’s important that we help them to grow and stay competitive,” said Michael Lee, international business development and marketing director for Alibaba.com. “This new application provides Bigcommerce merchants with direct access to Alibaba.com wholesale suppliers, offering competitive prices to realize better profit margins.”

The Wholesale app provides Bigcommerce retailers with a variety of benefits, including a tailored search experience that enables them to browse and purchase products in five categories, including apparel, beauty, consumer electronics and jewelry. Additionally, the app provides retailers with a transparent experience, enabling them to quickly access details like pricing, availability and minimum order requirements, as well as supplier contact information and ratings. Retailers also have the option to select wholesale pricing based on fastest delivery time or lowest possible price. Plus, orders placed via the Alibaba.com Wholesale App are backed by Alibaba.com’s Secure Payment services, which provides payment protection to all parties.

“Competing and succeeding online starts with having a business plan and strategy for sourcing quality products,” said Eddie Machaalani, co-founder and CEO of Bigcommerce. “For many of our merchants, Alibaba.com represents a tremendous opportunity to tap into the world’s largest supplier network — whether to start selling or expand an existing business — without taking on unnecessary risk or sacrificing margins.”
