Bing Gets Personal
Microsoft is bringing some of the personalization features from its new personal assistant Cortana to the search experience.
The company has begun displaying a set of personalized cards on the Bing homepage that aim to help users keep track of things that they care about, such as news, weather, flights and stocks.
Users can set up their interests by signing into their Microsoft account. Then, Bing will notify users of changes in their interest categories when appropriate. For instance, if a user started following a flight on their work PC, they would receive a notification on their Windows Phone if it’s delayed.
"As long as you're signed in, Bing will remember your interests and notify you, as appropriate, across a range of Bing-powered Microsoft services, such as Cortana and the Bing Sports app, for example," the Bing blog states.
It is also important to note that according to the company, Bing’s personalized cards are just the start of a new batch of personalization features coming to Microsoft devices and services.
