Brand Content Marketing in Action

Posted on 7.26.2016

There has been a trend over the past few years that is hard to ignore if you're a traditional publisher (online or offline) and that is the rise of content marketing.

The "media" was once the gatekeeper of information and controlled what went into their channels and what was exposed to their audience. Today, however, things could not be more different.

Not only are there thousands more independent publishers, but brands are also investing heavily in the practice and developing some rather unique content-driven experiences for their clients and users.

+ Expedia: The online travel agency acquired Trover recently, an app and website where people share their travel photos (user generated content).

“Expedia’s mission is to revolutionize travel through technology, and they believe Trover’s beautiful content and social experience is a great fit with this mission. We can’t imagine higher recognition for our community,” Jason Karas, CEO of Trover, explained in the post.

+ Warby Parker: Just announced it is offering a Snapchat-exclusive product - limited sunglasses that are available for purchase to its Snapchat followers.

"Snapchat’s Lenses, Geofilters and Stickers separate it from other social networks by making communication more creative, fun and casual," said co-founder and co-CEO Neil Blumenthal to TechCrunch.

+ Pokemon: Set to release a live-action movie based on a character.

Pokémon already has a storied animated film history, but this is its first foray into live-action movies; production of the movie is scheduled to begin in 2017.

You may not have the resources to create a movie based on your product or company, to buy companies which complement your message, or commit energy and finances to developing unique projects for each and every platform and digital experience, but there are many things you can do to take advantage of the content marketing trend and drive revenue and greater audience interaction with your brand.
