Buy Phone - 'Net Briefs (October 2012)

Posted on 8.31.2012

The numbers don’t lie; mobile devices are quickly becoming a major factor in e-commerce, and online retailers need to start preparing accordingly. E-commerce technology company Monetate offered new data that shows that “top” online retail sites get about 3.31 percent of their total visits from Android phones (up from last years 1.76 percent), while iPhone makes up 5.41 percent of the total traffic of those same sites. That said, Android users are actually more likely to convert, with 1.26 percent making a purchase, compared to 1 percent of iPhone users. The numbers are similar with tablets, with the iPad driving the most tablet traffic (88.31 percent), but converting at a lower rate than Android users.
