Cinematico - Youtube Channel-Friendly Websites

Posted on 8.27.2014

Youtube is enormous - over 6 billion hours of video are watched each month and 100 hours of video is uploaded to the platform every minute.

Some Youtube-centric content publishers (e.g. Anthony Quintal) are getting paid big bucks to keep producing videos - but are they missing out? If they hosted video on their own website wouldn't it be possible to generate more revenue from one's already engaged group of followers? There are obviously more costs involved in terms of advertising sales, hosting and the like - but setting up a digital property to direct users to (instead of Youtube, Twitter, etc) presents a rather substantial monetization opportunity. To do that of course, Youtube's (and Vimeo's) brightest video stars will need their own website and Cinematico might just fit the virtual bill.

The open source website solution enables users to connect their accounts, channels and playlists/albums to both YouTube and Vimeo.

Site owners can download Cinematico, run the installation wizard, set a few customization options, configure their video service, set a username and they are off and running.

Be careful, however; if too many video publishers start hosting on their website, Youtube may just fall from the ranks of the Web's most popular sites (to be replaced by yours!).
