Tool-Of-The-Day: Clip Marks

Posted on 10.31.2007
Always the fan of blogging more with less effort, ClipsMarks is a online tool/service (Firefox and IE Plugin) you may want to check out and test. The solution is an elegant and innovative way to "clip" the parts of web pages (entire paragraphs, sentences, images or videos) you want to comment on at your own website or simply keep track of  without having to bookmark the entire page.

Clips can be saved privately or publicly, emailed to friends, or posted directly to your blog (currently supporting WordPress, TypePad, Vox and a few others). The new ClipSearch feature even lets users search based on matching keywords inside the content clipped, as well as any tags, titles and descriptions added. In effect, by clipping the best parts of Web pages, you build a personal search engine for the things that matter to you.

The signup and installation process is a little cumbersome and I had a problem getting to work on my self-hosted WordPress installation on another blog, but it's a nice tool overall and something you may want to consider if you're serious about blogging.
