ComScore to Measure Embedded Media

With the explosive popularity of sites MySpace and Facebook in recent years, comScore decided it would be a good idea to start measuring views of embedded multimedia in users' profile pages - dubbed comScore Widget Metrix.

For example, if a Photobucket (soon to be purchased by News Corp. for $300 million) photo is accessed through a MySpace profile, Photobucket now gets the credit for the view, not MySpace. This will affect how advertisers consider page views through these social networking sites and impact the entire social networking ad scene.
