Consider Yourself Warned; Incoming Notifications on AdSense Violations

Posted on 10.27.2016

Google is tightening the digital screws on its AdSense publishers and has recently increased the frequency at which it sends policy violation warnings to those operating outside of its recommendations.

Publishers have been receiving emails with warnings they violated AdSense policies but in most instances they are mild violations that can be fixed quickly. Fortunately for publishers, ads are still being served even though Google is aware of the violation.

In addition to the email that is being sent out, publishers are also seeing a notification within their AdSesnse account under the "status" tab.

Both the email and the system notification explain where the violation occurred and how to fix it. By clicking the link provided, publishers are sent to the page where the violation has occurred. When you’ve made all the necessary changes to your site, check “Resolved” on the site level violation notification in the “Status” tab of your AdSense account.

While publishers don't need to notify Google that the issue has been resolved, it does need to be resolved quickly as Google can choose to stop showing ads on a site altogether (usually, however, that's reserved for those publishers that have received multiple warnings or are displaying truly egregious violations (those causing harm to advertisers, the ad ecosystem, Google or its users).
