Demandware Announces Open Commerce APIs

Posted on 9.19.2011

Demandware Inc, provider of SaaS e-commerce solutions, has announced new Open Commerce APIs.

The Open Commerce APIs are designed to allow clients and partners to quickly and securely build shopping widgets and experiences outside of the native Demandware Commerce platform.

These new APIs allow for more innovation because outside Web applications and enterprise software are allowed to interface with Demandware Commerce shopping functionality, which ensures that the product, promotion, account and brand experience is consistent to the consumer across all brand interactions.

“With the automatic delivery and management capabilities of our Open Commerce APIs, retailers and brands can drive new innovation to consumer devices faster and easier than before without the operational burden of building their own API framework,” says Jamus Driscoll, vice president of marketing at Demandware.

The Open Commerce APIs provide benefits for both business and developer communities.

Business benefits include the ability to integrate and utilize key customer, product and promotional data in-store through interactive display windows, QR and barcode scanning, handhelds and kiosks, as well as the ability for retailers to quickly build and deploy native mobile and tablet applications.

Benefits for developers include lower cost, access to the Demandware community of developers, as well as secure third party development.

The Open Commerce APIs will be available to retailers, branded consumer manufacturers and partners that operate with the Demandware Commerce platform.
